Egyptian Cities???

Luxor has most of the famous pyramids. It is desert where the pyramids stand, but close enough to the Nile that stones could be floated down on barges for the building. During the yearly inundation, farmers worked on the pyramids and received wages for it. After the waters receded, they returned to the fields to plant their crops.
